Department of Export Agriculture, Sanasa International and the SEFEC started this at a grass root level and executed this program in great detail scientifically and methodically, working closely with the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) to come up with regulations to standardize the GAP certification process and farming practices for a GAP Handbook.
The GAP (Good Agricultural Practises) certification is provided free of charge from the Sri Lankan government via the DEA (Department of Export Agriculture) from early 2020 to farmers.
