About SEFEC

The SANASA Entrepreneur Financial Expertise Center (SEFEC) is the central incubator of the SANASA network for value chain development and business incubation. It aims at promoting the sustainable growth and development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the provision of customized financial and nonfinancial products and services, with a focus on women entrepreneurs, youth and small farmers in rural areas.

Currently SEFEC is working with 200 cooperative societies, geared to improve the income of smallholder farmers by incubating businesses that are market aligned. The business incubation team of SEFEC and the financial advisory team of SEVA consultancies programme of SANASA International work in unison to support building local economies in a sustainable framework.

SEFEC started in 2017 under a 5-year project implemented by DID, an international development consultancy firm affiliated to the Desjardins Co-operative Financial Group in Canada. The initiative was funded with the assistance of the Canadian Government( Global Affairs of Canada). Although the project ended in 2021, SANASA International continues the best practices and the pilot work that began with SEFEC, while retaining a core team affiliated with SEFEC as a consultancy pool.
